Ryan started piano lessons at the age of 7 and spent his childhood working through the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) curriculum for piano.  In his teenage years he discovered improvising in pop/rock styles and later in Jazz. It was at this time he picked up a guitar and started to learn his second instrument.

Many years later Ryan graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s in Music concentrating in Jazz piano.  While there he also studied guitar as his second instrument.  He is well versed in the RCM approach for classical piano and in teaching improvisational techniques in any genre of music.

Ryan has been teaching regularly ever since and has now been a teaching professional for over 10 years in Piano, Guitar, and Music Theory.

By performing regularly as a jazz pianist and in a pop/rock band Ryan keeps his skills current enabling his students to benefit from his real world experience in the music scene.
